Anaerobic digestion of distillery co-products

InSource Energy works in partnership with distilleries to reduce four key operating costs: waste disposal, by-product reworking, energy purchase and sewer discharge.

Distilleries are well placed to profit from the ability to generate renewable energy from effluent and other wastes. Sites where substantial volumes of effluent (even low-solids effluent) and waste by-products occur have the potential for a dedicated anaerobic digestion plant, to create energy – and money – from what would otherwise be waste.

Even the smaller sites can sustain such an approach as by-products which are currently sold (e.g. for animal feeds) may be more valuable if converted to energy, or sites can import wastes from other distilleries nearby, or other sources, to make a project viable.

We understand the complex set of challenges in the cost-effective and sustainable disposal of waste and treatment of by-products. An InSource Energy bespoke project provides distilleries with the following benefits:

  • No feasibility, capital or operating costs (investment options are available if you wish)
  • Fixed, discounted waste disposal costs and security of outlet
  • Lower utility costs
  • Less vehicle movements onsite
  • Reduced effluent discharge cost
  • Reduced sewer loading enabling production growth
  • Enhanced corporate reputation and ‘green’ credentials
  • No distraction from core business activity
  • Lower carbon emissions.

InSource Energy offers a confidential, free initial feasibility study on a no commitment basis, to understand how we can generate substantial savings for your business.
